Melrose scenery

Melrose is a historic town situated at the foot of the Eildon Hills in the valley of the Tweed, resulting in a picturesque setting that is perfect for relaxing short breaks and holidays.

With settlements dating back to the time of the Romans Melrose has a rich past to draw on, and in modern times it has become the perfect base for a holiday spent exploring the Scottish Borders and surrounding regions.

Melrose Abbey is one of the major landmarks of the town - an impressive monastery that is partially ruins but still maintains many of the most decorative elements, including carved dragons and saints. The abbey is also believed to be the site where Robert the Bruce’s heart was buried and a memorial plinth stands where the container is now buried in the grounds.
