Set in the attractive private grounds of Windsor Castle, the show is the only time of the year when these parts of the Queen’s residency are open to the public. Her Majesty The Queen is a keen horsewoman and has attended the event every year since it was founded as a fundraising event in 1943.
This jam-packed event features everything from the spectacular International Carriage Driving Grand Prix and international show jumping competitions, to extensive showing classes and phenomenal equestrian displays.
This year’s event is the first since the show was recognised as a 4* international event, the highest grade possible in the sport, elevating the show to one of the top six in the UK, alongside Badminton and Olympia.
As a result, the world’s elite in showjumping are expected to compete for the six 4* events, including the coveted Rolex Grand Prix for the Kingdom of Bahrain Trophy whilst, for the first time, riders in the International Carriage Driving Grand Prix will be able to gain World Cup qualifying points.
Meanwhile, the Dressage competition will be one of the last opportunities for you to see members of Team GBR perform their Gold-medal worthy routines ahead of the Rio Olympics in August.
Aside from the intense competitions, there’s a chance to enjoy the ceremonial splendour of The Musical Ride of The Household Cavalry and cheer on your favourites as riders battle it out in old favourites, the Shetland Pony Grand National, the Pony Club Mounted Games and Tent Pegging.
