The Sounding Retreat from The Massed Bands and Bugles of the Rifles is expected to be one of the biggest spectacles and celebrations of military music in 2016. A fantastic event for the whole family.
The Light Division last Sounded the Retreat at Horse Guards Parade 23 years ago so this two-day event marks a momentous once-in-a-generation chance to experience the majestic sights, sounds and pomp of the occasion.
Joining The Massed Bands and Bugles of the Rifles will be some of the most renowned bands from across the globe including The Band of The Brigade of Gurkhas, The Royal Gurkha Rifles Pipes and Drums and The Gurkha Kukri Dancers.
Also on parade will be The Buglers Association of the Light Division and Rifles, The Band of The Royal Hamilton Light Infantry from Canada, The Quirinus Band & Bugle Corps from Germany, The Army Cadet Force Bands from Durham and Somerset and The Rifles Fijian Choir.
The event is being held to raise money for Care for Causalities to support those injured in action, together with their families and the bereaved.
Since its formation in February 2007, The Rifles have been continually on duty, and experienced some of the fiercest fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan. Over 60 servicemen from the regiment have been killed in action and over 250 seriously injured with life altering injuries.
