For just five days in May every year, the grounds of the Royal Hospital Chelsea host the greatest flower show on earth.
Whether you’re a green fingered expert or total novice, the Chelsea Flower Show is a haven of colour and scent with sensational plant displays, rarely seen flowers and cutting edge garden designs around every corner.
Explore the extraordinary talents of the world’s best designers and discover which show gardens win the highly coveted Gold Awards.
Ones to watch this year include The British Eccentrics Garden by television gardener Diarmuid Gavin, which features wonderful garden gadgetry, and an acoustic garden inspired by world-leading percussionist Dame Evelyn Glennie that plays musical notes to visitors.
Meanwhile, BBC presenter Ann-Marie Powell has designed a garden full of features that visitors can replicate in their own gardens, to champion the theme ‘Greening Grey Britain’ which aims to encourage city gardeners to go more green.
To commemorate the 90th birthday of the RHS patron, HM the Queen, the show will also feature a photographic exhibition and a specially commissioned floral arch.
That’s not all. As always the Great Pavilion will feature breathtaking exhibitions from over 100 specialist plant breeders, nurseries and societies. This year’s prestigious Monument display in the Pavilion will feature a 60-foot Belmond British Pullman railway carriage as a centrepiece, which is certain to be a must-see.
There’s also a poignant poppy tribute to the wars’ fallen at the entrance featuring 300,000 individually crocheted poppies.
