Golden Acre Park in Bramhope is a beautiful park set in 179 acres of mature woodland with stunning gardens and an attractive lake. The woodland and gardens are home to many different varieties of trees, shrubs and herbaceous plants as well as home to native animals and wildfowl. Over the years the gardens have been upgraded and new features have been added including Limestone and Sandstone Rock Gardens, Heather, Bog and Late Season Borders and Courtyard. In the heart of the park is the Demonstration Garden. This garden provides visitors with inspiration and ideas for their own gardens and has themes ranging from Tropical, Cottage and Container Gardens.
Harewood House is full of things for children of all ages to see and do. They have everything from the Bird Garden with species of rare and exotic birds from all over the world including penguins, flamingos and parrots! The keepers feed the penguins at 2pm every day and visitors are free to watch. There is the adventure playground that is home to loads of slides, swings and many more activities for kids to get involved with! The grounds are full of walks and trails for the whole family to enjoy, you can even follow the Lakeside Path for beautiful views on a family walk. With a café onsite to enjoy some lovely snacks or hot food, Harewood House is a fun day out for all the family.
The Barn is also another family place to visit for the day. This huge indoor heated Barn on a farm site has a variety of play areas including rides on the tractors; a bouncy castle, a huge sand pit and baby soft play area. The Barn also gives children the chance to meet and feed some traditional farm animals and cuddle some pets.
Brimham Rocks are an amazing collection of weird and wonderful rock formations. Some of the rocks are fantastically shaped; keep an eye out for the Dancing Bear, The Eagle and The Gorilla, crawl through the Smartie Tube and balance on the Rocking Stones. If you fancy taking in some of the fabulous Yorkshire Countryside then you can take a walk over heather moorland or through the beautiful woodland.
The outstanding scenery, rich cultural heritage and range of wildlife habitat make the Yorkshire Dales National Park a very special place. The Dales are made up of some very familiar names such as Wharfedale, Wensleydale, Ribblesdale and Swaledale and covers an area of 680 square miles straddling the central Pennines in the countries of North Yorkshire and Cumbria. The famous Settle-Carlisle railway offers a unique view of this stunningly beautiful area.
