You can take anything from a short gentle walk to a long distance trek; there is a distance to suit everybody.
Walking isn’t for everyone, but it’s just as beautiful to see the wonders of Lancashire by bike! It means you can explore all the quiet lanes and off road cycle trails to the peaks of moorland routes, but again there are routes available to suit everyone. There are loads of places to hire a bike from as there are hundreds of bikes to rent 24/7 from little convenient hubs dotted around this beautiful place.
Bird lovers will absolutely love Lancashire, as there is a variety of reserves attracting hundreds of different species of native and migrating birds, making it the absolute perfect destination for a spot of bird watching.
Children love farms and it’s a good job Lancashire is home to Farmer Teds Farm Park near Ormskirk. Hosting regular Birds of Prey displays with a chance to get up close and personal with the birds! No matter what animals you love, it will have a home here. There are loads of animals for you to get involved with including; Sheep racing, Pony grooming, meeting the Llamas, Chick and Guinea Pig handling and milking demonstrations. Plus there are huge indoor and outdoor adventure areas, which you can go on go-karts, a massive sandpit and the crazy climbing frames! Before the days over, they also offer free tractor rides around the farm. There is a restaurant on site called Farmer Ted’s Grill, serving freshly made beautiful food! Farmer Teds Farm has huge barns with loads of weird and wonderful animals to explore so there’s so much to do inside and out so don’t let the typical English weather put you off going.
The Harris Museum and Art Gallery in Preston is full with fantastic art and fascinating objects. This Grade I listed beautiful building is home to huge collections of fine art, costume, textiles, ceramics and glass and history! This Museum and Art Gallery constantly changes it’s exhibitions to make everyone’s visit special on the first or fifth time! With an amazing staircase giving you access to two floors of art ranging from contemporary New Media Art to the traditional art of the 19th century. This wonderful Museum has so much to offer and it’s free entry! After a busy day looking at spectacular art, you’ll definitely need a drink and a bite to eat from the café, which has its own amazing views up to the Egyptian balcony.
