Situated just off the M5 and M42, Bromsgrove lies between Birmingham and Worcester and is surrounded by countryside including the Clent Hills and the Waseley Hills. Traditionally a market town, Bromsgrove’s long high street heralds an outdoor market, and there are plenty of country pubs, canal restaurants and real ale inns providing delicious food and drink. The Lickey Incline is the steepest on the British mainline rail network and was host to a purpose built locomotive known as Big Bertha.
The birthplace of several famous people, including singer/actor/presenter Michael Ball, News presenter and journalist Michael Buerk, and Mark Williams, better known as Arthur Weasley in Harry Potter – not forgetting George Cadbury, creator of Cadbury chocolate. The inventor of the board game Cluedo, Anthony E Pratt, is buried in Bromsgrove Cemetery, and the Avoncroft Museum of Historic Buildings is home to the National telephone kiosk Collection.
